The Construction Yard is the first level in Twisted Metal 4. It's a medium-sized arena, and the player has to defeat 3 enemies, and then the stage boss Crusher, to advance. Upon completing the level, the player is taken to Neon City.
Description[]
- "Glowing green sludge lights this greasy warzone as you careen through stacks of smashed cars and highly toxic environmental filth. Bask in the warmth of Sweet Tooth's flaming sludge pit as some poor sucker falls in. The centerpiece of this automotive nightmare is the crane. Control it and helpless screams will be music to your ears."

It features four cross-sectional areas on different corners of the center of the stage, where a controllable crane is placed. There are also conveyor belts which drag cars toward flamethrowers.
This level actually starts with only two enemies until you destroy one of them, making the third appear.
Hazards[]
- Flamethrowers: Two conveyor belts in the level lead to flamethrowers, burning any car that goes through them.
- Sludge Pits: In one of the corners of the map, several bright green patches are present. If they are hit with Napalm or an explosive, they will spread fire through their entirety.
- Explosive Barrels: Throughout the entire level, various explosive barrels with the word "DANGER" are featured. If touched, they will blow up, dealing damage.
Boss[]
Crusher.
The crane will explode, not being usable anymore, and the boss will appear in a random distant part of the map.
It isn't a difficult fight, as the boss' special is close-ranged, meaning you only need to stay away from it and shoot during the battle.
After defeating Crusher it will be unlocked, along with the Pits stage.

Tactics & strategies[]
- Use the crane to pick up the enemy vehicles and drop them into one of the two flamethrowers. This causes good damage. An extremely powerful technique is to drop them into the flamethrowers and pick them up again when they touch the "roof" above the flamethrowers. This induces damage for some reason, but it's a great strategy to destroy your opponents.
- Be careful, though; After you defeat all of your enemies, the crane explodes.
- There are tons of Health pickups in this map, including a Full Health. They are located in each corner of the level.
- The Full Health is located near the conveyor that goes over the ground. Go through the corner where small buildings are located and go up the first house. You will see a teleporter, use your turbo and enter the teleport. You will teleported in front of the conveyor belt. Drive there and pick up the Full Health.
Trivia[]
- The Construction Yard is the only level in the game that has no Proximity Mine nor Lightning pickups.
- In the Sep 29, 1999 prototype of Twisted Metal 4, the level was named Junkyard.
