The Divided States of America is the main setting of the Twisted Metal television series.
The collapse of the old United States of America[]
A mysterious computer bug devastated the global infrastructure causing the collapse of the modern society. After the destruction of the US federal government, 52 states of the US become independent states and trading between these states are done by the Milkmen.
Regions[]
West[]
Map to the Great White North.
The West is the place where John Doe makes runs for as a Milkman. However, he mostly stays in California, not having driven past Barstow. Many insider cities still remain here, with the most known one being New San Francisco. The northern part, known as the "Great White North", has a steel rush according to mapmaker Tommy, with several people going there.
The most dangerous part of the West is in Las Vegas, which is ruled by the murderous clown Sweet Tooth. The Lawmen, a massive gang of self-proclaimed policemen who want to bring the law back to America, have also made their way to the West, occuping the Hoover Dam, and making travel between Nevada and Arizona much harder. Another danger is that each year, the Holy Men gang make their pilgrimage to Colorado, where their Rocky Mountain Fuck Fest happens. Colorado is also home to the Convoy, a group of truckers who live in rigs who constantly move around.

Wild Midwest[]
Map to New Chicago.
The Wild Midwest is known to be extremely dangerous, with it barely having any insider cities that aren't towards the eastern side of the region. The mapmaker Tommy warns John that the people here are not like your run-of-the-mill Vultures, and mentions how the Astral Burgers, who house crazed cultists that worship burgers, are the safest place on it. The biggest danger of the Wild Midwest is the Lawmen, with their HQ being located in Topeka, Kansas.
