Minion is an unlockable vehicle from Twisted Metal: Black. It was the winner of the previous year's Twisted Metal contest. Surprisingly, it is even usable for online gameplay in Twisted Metal: Black Online.

Minion is the sub-boss at Minion's Stadium, which is also an unlockable arena, and the only map where he can be chosen as an AI opponent. This iteration has a shield that has to be shut down by destroying the four panels on the front, left, right and back sides of it.

Design[]

In this interpretation, Minion is a large armored tanker truck with a turret-mounted flamethrower on its trailer. The playable version is downscaled so it could fit inside repair stations.

Special Weapon[]

  • Minion's special has two modes; It fires either a powerful flamethrower at close range, or a series of homing Napalm blasts at long range (unlike those used by the boss, which are unable to pursue enemies). Possibly the most versatile and devastating special weapon in the entire game. Because it can set opponents on fire, it accelerates their turbo gauge drain. Additionally, the turret can automatically target nearby enemies.

How to Unlock[]

It can only be unlocked by beating the game with every other character once.

Trivia[]

  • Minion is the only unlockable vehicle besides Axel who does not require the player to destroy any kind of grounded control panel to unlock as a playable vehicle, although it is required for collecting a few other vehicles, which in turn must be used to complete story mode before Minion is available.
  • When playing story mode as Minion, it is possible to fight the boss version in Level 4 as it would normally happen. However, as mentioned before, the playable Minion is much smaller than its enemy equivalent.
  • This incarnation of Minion is modeled after a civilian vehicle rather than a military-type vehicle, being a tanker truck. The reason for this is that the tanker truck came first, initially without any ties to Minion. The developers then wanted to add the character into the game and felt that the tanker truck would be the best fit for him in this setting.[1]
  • Minion has two machine guns on its front on its in-game model, but they do not appear on the FMVs.
  • The boss version of Minion can be fought in Challenge mode on his own stage, the only stage where he's available for use as an enemy.
  • Minion's character selection shot has it destroying Outlaw. In the concept art, it is destroying a generic police cruiser instead.
