Story (Manual)

Once a dashing spy for British Intelligence, Orbital fell victim to a diabolical bio-weapon experiment by an evil archenemy. He escaped but was horribly disfigured. Except for his unfortunate habit of wearing over amped bell-bottom pants, Orbital has meticulous taste. His choice of cars is no exception. He drives a specially altered high tech sports car. Orbital believes that if he can win the Twisted Metal Competition, he will emerge from the battle a normal person again.

Ending

Orbital wins the contest. Wishing to live like everyone else and not be the only one on his planet with just half of his face, Orbital is dismayed to discover that while he is no longer an outcast, it comes at the cost of everyone missing the right half of their faces, causing him to shed a tear.

Trivia

• Orbital's face is a homage to Harvey Dent (AKA Two-Face) of the Batman series. However, his "Secret Agent" status, manner of speech, and British accent is almost certainly a direct reference to Sean Connery's portrayal of James Bond.
  • Another thing that supports his reference to James Bond is that he works for an organization called the British Intelligence Service; while Bond works for the Secret Intelligence Service.
• Orbital and Agent Stone share a couple of similarities; both drivers are British spies and they both drive a sports car. Because of this, it could be possible that Orbital was Crimson Fury's replacement or successor in TM4, but this has yet to be confirmed or denied.
• As seen in TM4's instruction manual and his ending cutscene, Orbital's tuxedo color is usually white and red, while in his info portrait, it appears grey and black. Whether this is an error, another reference to Two-Face since he usually wears a black and white suit or a result of lighting is unknown.
• In the September 29, 1999 prototype of Twisted Metal 4, Orbital's bio dialogue was a bit longer. The full dialogue was: "I'm not seeking revenge. I'm not looking for compensation. All I want is to be like everyone else. I just want to be able to lead a normal life like the next man. That's it really."
