Scenter (also known as City Center, or Seattle Center) was a level from the cancelled Twisted Metal: Harbor City. Small chunks of this level would later be used to create Carnival of Darkness from Twisted Metal: Lost.

Description[]

Scenter is a level that features Black Beard's Circus: a pirate-themed carnival with a skull water ride, a volcano roller coaster, and various other attractions. The Seattle Needle is also present in the middle of the stage, and on the outskirts there's a basketball stadium.

Connecting Areas[]

March 2nd, 2004 Map[]

The original plan as seen in early map concepts was to have Scenter connect to Goth via an alleyway on its western side, and to the Suburbs on its southwestern side.

August 11th, 2005 Build[]

After Scenter was completely redone by the time of the latest available build, the Suburbs transition was removed, and a new transition to Downtown was added instead. The alleyway connecting to Goth was also replaced with a sewer tunnel.

Trivia[]

  • This level was heavily based on the real life Seattle Center, having the Space Needle, the Pacific Science Center, and the Climate Pledge Arena. The earlier version of the level was much more direct in its references, and in addition to the previous landmarks, it also had the International Fountain, the Memorial Stadium, the Museum of Pop Culture, and the Seattle Center Monorail.
  • The giant skull present in the pirate ride has an eye that will look at the player vehicle. The eye can be removed if driven into, becoming an interactable object.
  • The texture of the carboard cutout of bobo the clown was taken directly from its concept art.
  • The newest available screenshots of Scenter are from August 11th, 2005. The same date of the latest released build.
  • The new version of Scenter was mostly Kevin Pulley's work.[1]
  • It is possible to destroy the Space Needle, creating a ramp to the top of the circus tent in the center of the level.
