It bears a passing resemblance to the 1960 Cadillac Funeral Coach. It has the upper part of a skeleton strapped to a fence on its grille.
Description (Manual)[]
Raven stole the hearse that delivered her friend from the funeral home to the cemetery. The Special Attack gained the hearse the name "Shadow".
Special Weapons[]
Regular: Firing the Special Attack launches an explosive "shadow" along the ground. It mysteriously travels towards its target as if controlled by dark occult powers. With the Special Attack fired, press the Fire Weapon Button [default: L2] a second time and it will detonate in a fiery blast.
Alternate: Shadow's secret Special Attack is accessed by quickly pressing ↑ three times. Raven pops up and controls a 360 degree turret, much like Outlaw's Special Attack except it does more damage. However, it has a much shorter duration and you cannot use missiles either.
Alternate (secret): A variation of Shadow's secret special attack. Activated by holding all Trigger Buttons and pressing Triangle three times. The only difference is that Raven pops up in a stripped costume.

Shadow unlocked.
Shadow was originally meant to be an unlockable vehicle instead of Axel. In the 2001-04-12 prototype at the Freeway stage, after dropping the box from the crane and breaking it open, Shadow would've been inside, and the messages "Congratulations" followed by "Shadow Unlocked" would appear. In the build itself however, Shadow is already a default vehicle, meaning this was a leftover from an even earlier version of the game.

Additionally, there exists FMVs in Twisted Metal: Black's files that show an early depiction of the garage with the unlockable cars. In this garage, besides Yellow Jacket, Warthog and Manslaughter being there as usual, Shadow is also there taking Axel's spot.
Shadow and Axel are the only vehicles with secret specials in Black.
