Spectre is a vehicle in the Twisted Metal series and has appeared in nearly every game except Twisted Metal 4 and Twisted Metal (2012). Its drivers usually desire attention or are linked with ghosts. Spectre has always been one of the fastest vehicles in the competition with above average handling.
Description[]
Spectre is typically depicted as a sleek sports car that is colored white and/or blue. It has never had the same driver for more than one game, but all of its drivers tend to link to the "ghostly" theming of the car. Whether that be from them literally being a ghost (Scott Campbell in the original Twisted Metal), feeling as if they are invisible, like a ghost, and wanting more attention, (which applies to Ken Masters, Lance Wilder, Bloody Mary, and Chuckie Floop), or being dressed up as a ghost (Spectre in Small Brawl).
The vehicle is also known for its infamous "Ghost Missile", a homing Special Weapon that can travel through objects to damage opponents.

Scrapped[]
- Spectre - Twisted Metal: Harbor City: Spectre was planned to appear in the cancelled Harbor City title, and it is playable in all builds available.
- Spectre - Twisted Metal (2012): The car Kamikaze started off as Spectre early in development, but was renamed, given a new paintjob, and its special was replaced due to balancing reasons.
Trivia[]
- A Spectre (Or "specter", its American spelling) is another name for a ghost.
- Between the original Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2, Spectre is a white 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with the exception of blue stripes and removed tailfins in TM2.
- Although Spectre is not featured in Twisted Metal 4 and Twisted Metal (2012), two similar cars replace it. In TM4, Orbital's Sleek Sports Car replaces it in speed and similarity, Pizza Boy's Illegal Street Racer has a similar livery to Spectre's TMIII design (Save for having one stripe as opposed to two) and a Special Weapon featuring homing capabilities. In TM(2012), it is replaced by Kamikaze.
- Spectre is the only vehicle besides Hammerhead to be driven by different drivers in all of its appearances.
- Spectre, Grasshopper, and Mr. Slam are the only vehicles that have been piloted by ghosts.
- Spectre is one of the only recurring vehicles to have the same special in all its appearances, along with Grasshopper and Twister.
- It is possible to create a car similar to Spectre in Twisted Metal 4 using Create Car mode. It looks similar to its appearance in Twisted Metal 2 but as a black stripe instead of a blue one and is gray instead of white.
