"I'm gonna get out there, and I'm gonna embrace the chaos. Who knows, maybe I'll even fall in love! The show is going on the road!"
—Sweet Tooth, Twisted Metal (TV Series)

Marcus Kane, infamously known as Sweet Tooth, is a main character from the Twisted Metal television series. Sweet Tooth is physically portrayed by professional wrestler Samoa Joe, with his voice being performed by Will Arnett.

Appearance[]

Sweet Tooth's design in the TV series matches his Twisted Metal: Black, Head-On and 2012 appearances the most. There are subtle design changes like the mask having both eye holes as well as longer hair, but the most notable is that he lacks his trademark flaming hair for most of the series. He also carries around a machete, which is taken straight from Twisted Metal (2012).

During his show, Sweet Tooth dresses up in a pink tuxedo based on his appearance in Twisted Metal III, mostly resembling his unlockable alternate costume from PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale.

In Season 2, his mask now has a baseball with an X mark on its left socket, a result of Stu having shot his eye out in the last season. The hair of his mask is also darker, shorter, and less feathered, much more closely resembling his video game counterpart. It appears that the reason for this is because it was burned and damaged when he lit his head on fire, although this does not explain why his head appears to have taken absolutely no damage from doing this.

Personality[]

Sweet Tooth is a psychopathic clown that has no problem with murdering while still having a sense of humor. Despite his goofy and somewhat affable demeanor, he takes things like betrayal extremely seriously and will not hesitate to murder those who cross him.

Relationships[]

John Doe[]

Sweet Tooth first encounters John with Quiet in the middle of nowhere, speedily heading towards them in his ice cream truck. The two drive away from Sweet Tooth, only for the clown to catch up to them and ask if they were there for his show. John sarcastically says yes before turning his car and shooting at Sweet Tooth, enraging him. John and Quiet later end up hiding in a casino from Sweet Tooth and get into a silent argument, which leads to the killer clown finding John and easily taking him down. Sweet Tooth then turns on “kill music” as he prepares to kill John, only for the milkman to sing along to Sisqó’s Thong Song, leading to the two complimenting each other and John being taken to the show along with Quiet.

Sweet Tooth performs his show before going to John and asking what he thought about it. John tries lying and saying that he “loved it”, angering Sweet Tooth and almost getting killed as a result. Quiet saves herself and John by admitting that the show sucked, leading John to agree with her when interrogated by Sweet Tooth. Admiring their honesty, Sweet Tooth lets the pair go, admitting that they were the first to make it out of his show alive. He later burns down the set after the two leave, taking his prison outfit and Harold with him.

The three would later reunite during the final battle with Stone, driving beside each other and chatting briefly, with John and Quiet complimenting Sweet Tooth’s flaming hair, albeit being confused by it. They later go their separate ways and aren’t shown speaking to each other afterwards.

Quiet[]

Quiet attends Sweet Tooth’s show along with John and saves him from Sweet Tooth’s murderous wrath by offering harsh criticism of his show, with Sweet Tooth eventually getting John to agree with her. He admires their honestly about his show and lets the pair leave, happily waving goodbye to them.

Sweet Tooth later encounters John and Quiet during the final battle with Stone, driving by and briefly chatting with them before going their separate ways.

Harold[]

Sweet Tooth views Harold as his best friend, and has ever since he was a kid. He has been shown to give Harold special seating and a drink whenever preforming a show, as shown during his childhood and while performing his show for John Doe and Quiet. Sweet Tooth also lets Harold ride shotgun in his ice cream truck, forcing other passengers to stay in the back.

Stu[]

Sweet Tooth first met Stu while Stu was in the waiting room for the Red Line, a hallway which led to a door where Stone’s “prisoners” were forced to fall to their deaths. After effortlessly slaughtering Stone’s goons in front of Stu and “saving” everyone, the pair soon form a genuine friendship, labeling themselves as “The S-Brothers”. Sweet Tooth promises to help Stu “grow his fangs” and even lets Stu keep Mike as a “pet” despite attempting to kill the latter seconds beforehand. Sweet Tooth later tries to have Stu kill Mike in order to “show him his fangs”, only for Stu to shoot Sweet Tooth in the left eye and escape. Mike and Stu later run over Sweet Tooth when he’s on the road and leave the battle against Stone’s goons, later ending up at their own personal “shangri-la”.

Unfortunately for the duo, Sweet Tooth survives his injury and tracks the both of them down, laughing maniacally before killing Mike and dragging Stu away, leaving his fate unknown.

Mike[]

Sweet Tooth and Mike do not get along well when they first meet, as seen when the clown attempts to strangle Mike to death. He is only stopped by Stu, who he had befriended earlier. Mike is allowed to live and come with Sweet Tooth and Stu, though he gets treated as a pet and sprayed with a bottle of Sweet Tooth’s urine. Mike later helps Sweet Tooth during the battle with Stone’s goons, and is the one who personally hands Sweet Tooth the lighter fluid so that he can adopt his trademark flaming hair. However, Mike quickly turns on Sweet Tooth when he attacks Amber, who isn’t allied with Stone. Sweet Tooth responds to this by grabbing Mike and goading Stu into killing him, only to be shot in the eye by Stu in retaliation. Mike and Stu later run over Sweet Tooth and escape before heading off to their own personal “shangri-la”.

Sweet Tooth finds Mike and Stu later that night and gets his revenge by murdering Mike and dragging Stu away.

Billy the Dog[]

Sweet Tooth, who was a young Marcus Kane at the time, hated Billy the Dog for overshadowing him as the star of “Two Scoops”, comparing the situation to Steve Urkel overshadowing the Winslow family during the later episodes of Family Matters. Marcus eventually snaps during a live recording of the show after the crowd applauds Billy but ignores him, leading to him killing the dog with a pair of knitting needles in front of everyone, much to their horror. This incident gets Marcus sent to Blackfield Asylum and given the nickname “Needles Kane” by the newspaper reporting on his incarceration.

Wesley and Amy Kane[]

Marcus had a poor relationship with his parents, being especially resentful towards Wesley for not being his real dad. Wesley disliked him in return, badmouthing Marcus’ biological dad in front of him. Marcus’ parents would eventually send him to Blackfield after his brutal murder of Billy, never once visiting him during his imprisonment. When the apocalypse started, Marcus; now known as Sweet Tooth, escaped the asylum and tracked down his parents, kidnapping them and forcing them to stay in his cell which eventually led to the two perishing. Sweet Tooth later sees their decomposed corpses in his cell and violently destroys them in a fit of rage.

Agent Stone[]

Sweet Tooth becomes a thorn in Stone’s side after leaving Lost Vegas. He first kills one of Stone’s guards at a toll booth by sticking a grenade in his mouth, causing his head to explode. Sweet Tooth later makes his way to the DMV, freeing Agent Stone’s prisoners and slaughtering more of his guards, even cutting one’s head off and catching it, receiving a standing ovation from his new followers including Stu. Agent Stone is frustrated by his antics and retaliates by killing all of Sweet Tooth’s followers while the clown and Stu were inside Blackfield Asylum. Sweet Tooth quickly kills Stone’s goons and goes after Mike, coming close to killing him as well before being stopped by Stu. Sweet Tooth allows Mike to live, but treats him like Stu’s “pet”, even spraying him with a bottle of his own urine.

Sweet Tooth would later show up at the final battle against Stone, killing some more goons and almost killing Amber, who didn’t work for Stone, leading to Mike and Stu’s betrayal. Sweet Tooth is eventually run over by the duo and left for dead.

History[]

Background[]

Marcus Kane was born during the period of the mid-late 1970s, the son of Amy Kane and a father who worked as a taxi cab driver. Marcus’ father was arrested at some point in time, leading to custody of Marcus going to Amy.

Before the apocalypse, a young Marcus Kane was an actor and the child star of a popular sitcom called “Two Scoops” which was enjoyed by many, playing a boy named Lenny Scoops who ran an ice cream shop with Meemaw Scoops. Eventually, a new character named Billy was added, a dog who became a hit with the audience so much that the show was renamed “Billy & Two Scoops”, which made Marcus jealous. Billy’s popularity was so huge that it could be compared to Steve Urkel’s immense popularity on Family Matters, and his fanbase grew to be twice as large as Lenny’s. Marcus expressed this jealousy to Amy and his stepfather Wesley, but was ignored by the both of them.

In 1989, after arguing with his stepdad, Marcus went on stage to film a new episode of the show. His performance was met with no reaction from the audience until the appearance of Billy the Dog was met with laughter and applause. Feeling overshadowed once again, Marcus finally snapped, breaking character and taking the knitting needles from his co-star and brutally killing Billy in front of the audience and director, much to their horror. He was nicknamed “Needles Kane” as a result of this incident, arrested in 1990 and sent to Blackfield Asylum two years later, where he was meant to serve a sentence of 25 years to life, but only got to stay there for 10 years, until the apocalypse from 2002.

After the apocalypse, Marcus escaped along with several other inmates, later tracking down Amy and Wesley and trapping them in his cell where they remained until their deaths due to starvation. Sometime later Marcus; now known as Sweet Tooth, settled in a Las Vegas hotel with his childhood best friend Harold, an inanimate paper lunch bag. Sweet Tooth soon became the ruler of the city as a notorious serial killer who drove around in an ice cream truck full of weapons, becoming feared by many.

Season 1[]

In 2022, he came across two stragglers, John Doe and Quiet, outside the city limits and pursued them through the ruined city while offering to take them to his show. After a brief vehicle-to-vehicle skirmish, the couple crashed through the front doors of the same hotel where Sweet Tooth was performing his one-man show. After enduring his deadly act, which was just a re-enactment of various on-boarding videos for hotel guests, John would offer any sort of praise which only enraged Sweet Tooth. It wasn't until Quiet spoke how she really felt about the show with harsh criticisms that brought him back down to Earth, to which he then decided to broaden his view by leaving Las Vegas and meeting new people.

Days later, Sweet Tooth would drive up to the Lawmen's outpost at the Hoover Dam and attacked it, brutally and indiscriminately killing everyone in his path, except for Stu, a Lawman in training. Sweet Tooth took a shine to Stu and asked him to be his partner, along with any of the survivors who were still left. Sweet Tooth and his recruits began a new roadtrip, hitting every Lawman outpost, only pausing to stop at Blackfield Asylum for a brief respite and to visit his deceased guardians. While leaving Harold in charge of the group, Stu and Sweet Tooth visited his former cell just to stomp out their desiccated remains into dust. When they returned, they were shocked to see the rest of the group had been shot up by Agent Stone and Mike, Stu's former friend. Stone managed to get away but left Mike to be captured by Stu and Sweet Tooth.
