Trapper is a secret character featured in Twisted Metal: Small Brawl. He is the boss of the Minigolf Mayhem level in Tournament Mode.

Appearance[]

Much like the other secret characters, he originally had no character art or ending in-game.

However, his design was later revealed by the game's lead designer years later, being a kid wearing a tribal mask.[1]

Bio[]

This mysterious hunter has a devastating special monkey attack. Watch out, he is relentless!

Trivia[]

  • Trapper's driver lacks a design in-game. However, he was planned to reuse Jimmy Ash's scrapped concept art due to the devil mask resembling a tribal one, as well as the headhunters present in the Minigolf Mayhem level. The art was recolered, and some face paint markings were added to the mask.[1]
  • Due to his secret character status in the final game, he did not receive an ending. However, an ending was planned for him as revealed by the game's lead designer David Goodrich. The ending would start with Calypso being trapped in a net by Trapper, who proceeds to proclaim he won the tournament. Calypso asks what he wants, and he responds with wanting to have a real challenge, to hunt the biggest prey in town. Calypso questions if he wants to hunt people, but Trapper says that he already caught everyone in town twice in that day, with Calypso being the last. He finally says that he wants to trap "Granny". Calypso reluctantly agrres, bringing him to a sewer. Later on, they find Granny, a giant alligator. Trapper wonders why people call her Granny, and soons finds out when they are surrounded by several of her grandkids. Calypso accidentally bumps into Trapper's netgun, trapping both in a net. The screen then cuts to black while the alligators get closer and closer to them.[1]
  • Trapper was also planned to make a return in the cancelled "Paint Brawl" spin-off, which was going to be a FPS starring the Small Brawl cast as teens fighting in Calypso's paint ball tournament. New detailed concept art of his teen version was created, and he was also featured in the cover art from the prototype's design documents.[1]
  • The idea for Trapper's driver already existed before the plan to make a kid-friendly version of Twisted Metal was decided. In Goodrich's notes, Trapper was a big game hunter who was forced into retirement due to the lack of a challenging animal in the world, later noticing that the only animal that was growing in number was posed a challenge was the human race. He then entered the tournament in order to hunt again.[1]
