Yellow Jacket is vehicle that has appeared in Twisted Metal (1995), Twisted Metal: Black, and Twisted Metal: Lost. It is usually a taxi cab with well-rounded stats.

Description[]

Yellow Jacket is a yellow, busted-up Checker Marathon taxi cab. Both versions were driven by Charlie Kane.

Its Special Weapon varied in both of its appearances. In the original Twisted Metal, its special was a Molotov Cocktail, which set its opponents aflame. In Black/Lost, the vehicle surrounds itself with spikes that can either be used for extra ramming damage or can be launched manually by the driver.

Trivia[]

  • Yellow Jacket is one of the few recurring vehicles to have the same driver in all of its appearances. It shares this with Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grimm, and Grasshopper.
  • Though Yellow Jacket hasn't officially been playable since Black, there have been a few taxi cabs in the series included as subtle nods to Yellow Jacket. In Twisted Metal: Head-On, the first level's bonus stage is a demolition derby against a group of nameless taxis, and in Twisted Metal (2012), Junkyard Dog's specials include flinging a taxi at opponents.
  • In Twisted Metal 2 there are various taxis around in Hong Kong that look very similar to Yellow Jacket's TM1 taxi, only difference is it doesn't have the small electric sign on top of the car and the machine guns are removed. Possibly, they may be a subtle hint as to who is driving Dark Tooth, or are simply a coincidence.

Yellow Jacket hover concept art from TM2.

Yellow Jacket had some concept art made for Twisted Metal 2 when one of the original plans for the game was for the vehicles to be hover cars. It most likely was never implemented into the game, and was simply made to show the hover idea.
  • According to David Jaffe in an interview from MEL magazine, the idea for Yellow Jacket's name came from his girlfriend at the time.[1]
  • Although it doesn't appear in the television adaptation, it is mentioned that Marcus Kane's father drove a taxi cab, likely referencing Yellow Jacket.
